Can Silicone Products Be Put in the Microwave?

Knowledge of silicone products

Silicone products are widely popular and loved by many people around the world. Silicone products are high-performance products that are widely used in many industries. In terms of the quality of life, there are silicone kitchenware and silicone tableware. Some silicone tableware needs to be put in the microwave. Will harmful substances be produced when silicone products are put in the microwave? Can silicone products be put in the microwave?

Use of silicone products

Under the condition of resistance to high and low temperatures, different materials have different requirements and standards for temperature resistance. Silicone material is one of them. As a material that can be used in multiple industries, the characteristics and conditions of silicone products are not well understood by many consumers. It belongs to the category of chemical products along with plastics and rubber, which makes many friends think that it is not safe and the temperature resistance effect cannot be compared with metal. However, wholesale silicone products are actually highly safe and boast impressive temperature resistance properties.

We can put ceramics and metal into the microwave for baking without any problems, but not plastics. It is not recommended to put materials such as rubber and plastics in the microwave. This problem also creates instability for silicone products.

Plastic materials can be put in a high-temperature microwave for baking, and plastic materials are divided into PE, PC, ABS, PP, and different materials have different temperature resistance melting points. The temperature resistance environment is between 120℃ to 160℃. If they are put in the microwave for too long, their melting points will be reached and the plastic material will melt. However, there are also high-temperature plastic materials such as PP and PPSU used for baby bottles.

On the other hand, the temperature resistance conditions of silicone products are different from plastics. The temperature for conventional processing and molding by silicone product manufacturers is between 180℃ to 200℃. Its regular temperature resistance environment is between 220℃ to 260℃. It will not be affected even under instant high temperature of 1000℃. Therefore, there is no problem with putting it in the microwave. Additionally, silicone material is a highly active substance with stable performance and will not react with any other substances. Even if it is burned, it will emit white smoke and white powder.

So the main characteristics of silicone materials are high temperature resistance and safety stability. It is not the same process as plastics, and the raw materials used are completely different. This gives it unique functionality and a wide range of applications. Compared with metal and ceramic materials, their melting points and temperature resistance characteristics are only slightly higher than those of silicone materials. They will also be dissolved when the temperature reaches a certain level.
